SUCCESS!: How to make a new key incl. transponder
There's a little confusion there, mostly just with the names.
Firstly, there's 2 separate parts that need coding in each flip key remote, both with a separate process/system. One is for the immobiliser (transponder chip), and the other is for locking/unlocking the doors remotely (remote transmitter).
The bit mentioned that was re-soldered is actually the 'transmitter' for the remote lock/unlock system, and will need to be programmed in with a VCDS if the above quick method doesn't work (or you can't make it work without 2 keys, etc.). It's good to do it with this VCDS method as you can 'erase' any other old remote pairings, and have yours as the only remote that can unlock your car. There is also a max number of paired remotes, which sometimes causes issues programming a new remote from too many old remotes programmed to the car, and erasing/clearing fixes that issue too.
The other bit, that is actually the transponder chip, is actually the tiny glass capsule that's glued inside the casing of the remote transmitter, and interacts with a radio frequency ring around the key barrel, and like mentioned, if it starts the car, and no other keys are near the key barrel, that is already paired and working fine... This is the same for standard and remote keys.Last edited by kendog; 13-11-2013, 12:27 AM.

Here's the process you need:Originally posted by kev View PostHere is the process I used to learn remotes:
1. Insert any one of the working keys into the ignition lock and switch to the ON position without starting the engine.
2. Using any of the remaining keys, manually lock your car from the outside.
3. Press either LOCK or UNLOCK on the remote (to be programmed) once, then wait 2 seconds.
4. Press either button again once.
5. Switch off ignition and remove key from ignition.
6. You should hear a beep as a confirmation that the programming is completed
How do you do step 2 if you only have one key? and that key is in the ignition

You only need software to pair to the immobiliser - which is already done if you can start the car. there is a simple procedure for pairing the remote transponder - have a google, sorry I can't help more but I'm on my phone.

Can anyone confirm which VAGCOM to buy ? I'm guessing that's the same one that everyone uses to check engine codes etc ?
I ask because I finally opened up the key that came with my car to see why it isn't working and discovered that the buttons on the transponder mainboard were broken off. I've now resoldered them back on.
It seems the transponder has not worked for the previous owner due to this.
Am I right in assuming I will need to go through this process to get the keyless entry system to work again? (getting sick of having to open my car like it is pov pack).

Sweet! Thanks!
My next mod here is installing a different CCM so I can then install/program some factory remotes! Which was not previously possible on my model. I'll keep you guys posted!

That's the one and it says its down at the moment on the next page after you open the one with warnings. Its working now I just logged in Says the certificate is OK when I check itOriginally posted by kenbot View PostThat was a bit cheeky mate, I'm not that lazy. But when I do just use the google link/s, it comes up with a few warnings, and makes you feel like you might be going to a dodgy site, and warns it's not secure!
And when money, credit cards, and overseas websites are involved, combined with warnings, it's nice to get a specific link from someone who has actually been using the site with no problems, for peace of mind..
, I'd love it if you could confirm this is the site you've been using, it could save me and others being ripped off!

Massive thanks in advance mate!
