This is a sticky topic.

Well, I now have the equipment if anyone else in Melb needs a hand. Programming the keys was fairly straight forward, the real pain was getting the software & hardware to play nice!

I've just joined the reprogram the keys club...
Must admit, when it failed during the first attempt, and none of the keys worked, I was stressing big time...
Second time, I told it to erase the keys, and then it all worked properly...
Not too sure if there is a limit to the number of keys that can be programed, but during the initial attempt, the new key brought mine up to 5... Now after the erase and reprogram, it's only 2.
I really hope it stays working, or I'm dead meat once the wife gets hold of me...

Hi guys. Long time listener, first time caller!
Does anyone know if this key coding system will work with a 1999 VW Passt B5 Variant? if so, where would I locate the place to plug the Vag-Tacho into a 1999 Passat?

Just read through the thread, now from what I have read VCDS can not retrieve my SKC correct?
I am looking at duplicating another key (non flip key) and in the process of sourcing the transponder + key blank as well.
I have the latest VCDS and vagcom cable.

Hi balkanac,
I'm considering doing it myself on my 2002 Golf 1.6 GL and, since you are in Perth like me, I was wondering if I can call you for advice?
Thanks!

To do what with VCDS? you need an eeprom reader for the SKC, then use VCDS or any high level diagnostic tool that can access login and there you go. Be prepared to wait for the SKC for hrs if the dash is Motometer, havent heard anyone mention this here. VDO or Motometer clocks, both different in the way the seed key. Best its mentioned as you will sense failure with a Motometer but it can be done with time. Otherwise really clued up auto locksmiths have awesome transponder readers up to the end of Mk4, on Mk5 it all gets to another level of tricky.
Have fun
Cheers

It's not any better than VCDS, 2 weeks ago, I've tested Solus Ultra from my Snap-on dealer and returned it.Originally posted by MK4Golf View PostIt's a Solus Ultra.

I just found some numbers stapled to my log book. Could 01246 be an example of my code?
