Adding keyless?

Hi there ohsnap!

I've installed a keyless entry on the missus Golf and it's working beautifully. I've had the keys cut and installed the transponder chips into the flip keys so all i need to do now is program the keys. I fired up VAG tacho the other day and got it talking to the car but I can't seem to find the SKC. Can you give me any specific details on where to find it?

I just bought a kit from jbhifi yesterday.

Installed it myself following this guide:

Works a treat and installed in an hour or so.

I bought a lookalike mkIV flip key set off eBay for about 30 bucks or something. Wired it in in about 20 minutes. Bought a key blade off eBay for five bucks got it cut, transferred the chip from an old key and away I went!!! Although I did have too actually glue the new keyblade in and grind a slight amount off the end to make it fit. Looks legit tho!

Yeah dude, I'm looking for the same thing, the lowly 1.6L (before my GTI engine) MK4 golf only came with the Votex aftermarket/dealer installed crap. I want the flip blade, but getting the whole GTI Custom Control Module and 2nd wiring loom installed is a big job. So I think the flip key/blade look-a-like is the best bet.

Could you let us know:
1. Where you got it? - ANSWERED
2. Where you got the keys cut? - ANSWERED
3. And how/where to grind the extra bit??
4. How you sorted out the 'transponder' issue with the chip in the key? did you just take it out of the old keys?

That would be massively appreciated by many who either don't have the factory setup, or can't get it to work anymore!!

Well, I've had some success.... my ecu turned out to be the VW Bosch / Motometer..... it took about an hour for the scan to pick up the second password and then I was able to read the pin. I followed the directions for programming my 2 new flip keys and it all seemed to go well. The two new keys and the old key all start the car BUT the immobilizer/key symbol on the dash stays lit... even for the old key... which is obviously not right. I tried repeating the process but it's still the same. Any ideas?

UPDATE!! Fixed it!

I repeated the process again but this time I ticked the "delete old keys" box and change the number of new keys to 3. I disconnected VAG Tacho and turned off the ignition using the original key, put in the two new flip keys in sequence and followed with the original key to make 3. All working now with no imobiliser symbol on the dash for all three keys. Thanks to all that have posted here and over on the "success" thread. All very helpful.
