have the v6 4Motion badges left ghosting? I think i can see it in the pics.
Also, with the pics, most of the flickr ones aren't working.
I did as much as I could with the badges before it was just too dark (and cold) to continue. I still need to clean the bootlid properly, atm tho there is still some badge-gunk on there.
I replaced the front passenger CV boot. What a ****ter of a job that was!! I reckon I could do it bloody quickly now if given another shot. My advice: Dont leave the shaft in, take the whole lot out, its so hard to manipulate the boot and get the joint off.
I also sprayed my front calipers and disc hubs gloss black. I'm a 'less is more' kinda guy and I'm digging the understatement of the black.
Going to sand down and respray the wheels next. Got all the stuff to do it, need to remove the traces of its previous owner from the spokes.
The car hasnt been washed in forever, so I'll give it a clean and get some snaps.
Its been a while since I updated this, but thats cause nothing has happened...
I got rushed to hospital for emergency open heart surgery a while back and its kinda slowed me down a little.
A few weeks ago I got a cool car bra, but my car sat in the weather and rain for weeks while I was in hospital and its looking a little worse off. I'll put it back on once its clean.
But, today, despite doctors orders not to lift anything, I trial fit my new wheels to one side of the car. I can't leave them on as the front tyres are showing the radials and need replacing, also I think the rears are just a little too close to the strut for comfort.
(Sorry for crap iPhone pics)
(Also, front lip is off so I can get it on ramps)
18x10 ET62 rear
18x8 ET50 front
I have a 35mm adapter on the back and there *might* be enough room to fit a paddle pop stick between the rim and strut (and the rim rests against the strut and top of the spring housing when jacked up.) I'm not too comfortable with this and as you can see, I can afford another 5mm poke, so I'll buy some 40mm adapters (I dont like the idea of using an adapter and a spacer.) The fronts are just on a 25mm adapter and are fine. Lock to lock is fine, no rubbing. I *think* when I get some new tyres, I'll get some 215/35's instead - opinions?
Keep in mind I'm still on my 30mm lowered springs only and haven't got my new coil overs yet, so another 20mm lower will be unreal. I'd also like to clean the rims up a bit as they have some rough spots.
I also made a cool LED light strip for in my boot so I can actually find stuff in the dark. I'll take pics of this once the car is a little cleaner.
Also to do soon;
- Neuspeed Power Pulleys
- ECS cooling system revamp with billet crack pipe
- New serpentine belt (mine is cracked to hell)
- Car is desparate for a clean, inside and out.

Crikey! Glad you came out the other side mate ... - looks like you've still achieved a lot regardless - would be keen to see your boot light mod as that's one thing my Golf could benefit from.

P.S. Twists look schmick!
Yeah its been a crazy few months. Thanks mate!
I'll take pics tomorrow of the LED's once I've cleaned my horrible boot out.
I noticed when reading about other mk4's running 10's that the fwd mk4's have a vertical strut wheras my strut is at 30 degrees or so, so there must be a fair bit of spacing difference too. I guess once I drop another 20mm in the rear, it'll tuck a little and allow me to have another 5mm spacing.

Sent you a PM.
what size rubber do you have on the rear?
I bought some non genuine plastic black background headlights from the states. I have never been a fan of silver backed lights and mine were so cloudy (I did try to sand and polish them but with only limited success.)
So $462.47 delivered for those ones from ECS or ~$130 delivered for my ones (its pretty easy to say euro 'spec' too). I knew they were cheap when I got them, they were always going to be an interim replacement but they're fine and include the fog lights. I'm planning on Joey'ing my stockers and doing a Bi-Xenon retrofit now also which will be cool.
