I went for a ceramic coated 42 Draft downpipe in my APR stage 2+ MKV GTI.
Resonated and catted but still 3" means you unleash a load of power without a heap of noise. It is definitely louder and you can hear the turbo spool up but most of the noise is on WOT rather than all the time.

I wouldn't personally go for a custom job. Why be the R&D car when there are very competitively priced (and known quantities on terms of performance) off the shelf units like the 42 Draft available? I considered custom but a one day install v days of back and forth didn't make it appealing.

I don't tend to skimp on stuff that I put into my car, and the 42Draft gear ticked all the right boxes for me in terms of performance to value.
Ceramic coated means it looked great before the install and has performed flawlessly since. Even the guys who installed it said it went very well, nothing to cut / adjust.

I know I'm talking about a different engine, but I'd honestly recommend a hard look at the 42Draft gear before pulling the trigger. I wish there was a comparatively priced quality gear available for my SR22! I can't find a bad word to say about it.

This is one of those things that I'd buy again if the opportunity came about.

All this chat has me looking at their cat backs now... Must... Resist...
