I live in the Sydney area and any help on deals would be great! =]

BTW this is my first mod then Cold air intake, will after installing the cold air intake, will the note of the exhaust change? cause it happended to my fwends civic so i wasnt sure it will be the same to the MK4

Having an aussie mk4 GTI you hve the 1.8T 20v.

To get that note you need to find a 24v FWD VR6 from overseas, or push a bit further and find an R32 wreck and run that. The 1.8T will never sound like that unfortunately.

Well to get any decent kind of sound, thats where you will start. To get the scream there are plenty of options (Milltek, APR, Magnaflow, Supersprint, Borla, Remus, full custom)

Get the exhaust first and chip adjusted to suit?

I'd grab a Billy Boat from ECS or a Miltek from the UK if I was doing it again. Love the sound of my APR system though

                Billy Boat = APR ???

OP - look up GIAC/APR/Revo etc to price up the different ECU tuning packages.

I went full custom from the turbo back on the S3 (same engine, basically)

It sounds unlike any other VAG 1.8t on the road. Seriously aggressive with a lovely pop from the exhaust on upshifts and downshifts.

You could also look in Alex's "I promise to keep it standard" A3 thread, he's just knocked up a custom jobby himself, quality is there and he loves it. May be able to organise a listen at some point?

Worth getting a downpipe and system if you have the funding. Some tunes are written to take into account modifications. Standard stage tunes will run fine with small improvements in hardware.

A phase 2 tune from Custom-Code would require a downpipe and exhaust, as well as a front mount intercooler.

i got the billy boat one, got a bit over it, found it too drony. passengers in the back would complain...

it's for sale in my sig if you're interested, vid too.

btw there's no way you're gonna get a sound like that clip you posted. the 1.8t is not a great sounding engine. the vr6 is.

does a 100cel cat make a difference when comparing with the stock cat?

It's a hell of a lot cheaper to get an aftermerket 100cel than OEM.

My cat failed, so I went aftermarket because of cost.
