Funny transmission sound?

hmmm not sure, might see if i can get it to happen in other gears.
a few things worth mentioning, my gearbox is a little rough in between gears, and sometimes when stationary in neutral, and i change to 1st or 2nd, if physically will not go in unless i let the clutch out a tad to let it spin/move round a bit. I have had a new clutch put in 25,000k's ago and this happend both before and after. so don't think it's the clutch, and can't be the synchro as there is none in reverse.
also, the round bumper in my fairly new 034 motorsports dogbone (the part that mounts to the engine not two bumpers sandwhiched together that face the sub frame) is cracking so possibly is offering too much movement

I have similar experience when driving forward changing gear from 1st to 2nd, there always a click sound - like release a spring, coming from the bonet. Interestingly, it only happens at the first time changing gear from 1->2, won't repeat in the rest of the drive until stop the engin and start over again.
Had the car checked couple of times, nothing found and none can explain.
Strange...

Iv been paying a bit more attention to mine since you noted it on here. I also get it changing down from 4th to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd, when releasing the clutch pedal, usually to clicks each time.
How much fluid are you talking? Like visible on the ground?

hmmm nah not visible on the ground (not that i've noticed) but if i was in the one spot long enough i probably would notice.
i really should check it again, as i've wiped it clean so will know if it's leaked much since last time.
It does pool up at the bottom of the dif/tran:
and here is looking upwards to the turbo where it has sprayed around as the axle spins
(and yes i realise the hose clamp has slipped off the TIP... PITA to try get back on, fortunatly the TIP seems to hold position.)
the noises seem to be getting a bit worse, sometimes noticing it in 2nd/3rd/4th
is your noise exactly the same as the one in my video?

Sounds like you've got one of those native dudes from "the gods must be crazy" under there somewhere!
But seriously I'd be checking that leak and if it persists, get it to your mechaninc.Mk IV Golf GTI - BMP - GIAC chip, R32 wheels, KW coilovers, rear swaybar.

I thought about it, because mines been making the sound few a yr or 2, I wonder if it had something to do with the A8 reps i had on my car, they were silly heavy.
