    Ah very good! The wire is just there to keep it cooled by the cold air coming in, you'll see it's mounted on a heat sink on the air box. All you need to do is take it off the airbox and place it somewhere in the engine bay where it wont make it hot.

        yeah it's the wires connected to the coilpacks or something isn't it... strange how i can't find any reference on what the function of it is.
        If you can just remove it from the air box, doesn't sound like the heat sink would work all that well, meaning it doesn't sound like it is all that important to begin with

        so have you installed it? Noticed any gains? sound any different?

          Yeah something to do with ignition I believe. Just got PM'd! Chris just zip tied his up by the firewall.

            i wouldn't mind finding a bit more about it. trying to google it but can hardly find a thing.
            only thing i found was someone saying they couldn't install a CAI because removing the heatsink from the air box would likely kill the Ignition Controller...
            doesn't sound good, but obviously lots of people have done it in Australia... maybe should start a new topic...

              Be thankful we don't drive a Focus - the ECU is in the airbox on those, and if it loses the cooling from the airbox, it can play up...

                  best value for money option by far is to keep the stock air box, remove the factory snorkel and replace it with 3 inch piping just like this kit.

                  here's the cheapest i've found it:
