Ah very good! The wire is just there to keep it cooled by the cold air coming in, you'll see it's mounted on a heat sink on the air box. All you need to do is take it off the airbox and place it somewhere in the engine bay where it wont make it hot.

If you can just remove it from the air box, doesn't sound like the heat sink would work all that well, meaning it doesn't sound like it is all that important to begin with
so have you installed it? Noticed any gains? sound any different?

i wouldn't mind finding a bit more about it. trying to google it but can hardly find a thing.
only thing i found was someone saying they couldn't install a CAI because removing the heatsink from the air box would likely kill the Ignition Controller...
doesn't sound good, but obviously lots of people have done it in Australia... maybe should start a new topic...

BMC CDA Carbon Dynamic Airbox - Induction Kit CDA85-150 - eBay Air Filters Induction Kits, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Vehicle Parts Accessories. (end time 28-Jun-10 10:10:40 AEST)
edit: ebay url's don't work on this site for some reason, search "350360196819" on ebay
GBP205 shipped so about AU$360, although it comes with the 70mm reducer not the 80mm one which we need.
i've emailed them to ask if they can supply the 80mm insteadLast edited by McDub; 30-05-2010, 06:03 PM.
