The mirrors may not have a problem at all.
When the knob is set to right mirror both mirrors will move together. This is normal on VWs.
The correct way to set-up the mirrors is to do the right (while the left goes nuts), then set the left.
The RAC guys may not know this.
Our 99 1.6 Golf does this but my 02 GTI does not.
Actually find it handy as my wife uses a different setting to me and when I get in , I just adjust the right and the left one seems to set itself up perfectly.

    Gotta love those Germans.

yeah you dont notice as you are generally focussed on adjusting the right one so dont look at the left one, hahaha.

Haven't managed it again, and I am now insanely jealous.

              "Synchronised mirror adjustment:
Both mirrors must first be moved to the basic position. To do this, first adjust the left then the right mirror as described above.
Both mirrors can now be adjusted at the same time by adjusting the left mirror only."

Haven't tried this yet but that's what the book says!

Got my car today, and I absolutely love it. Boy was I surprised at the acceleration! I heard it was quick, but wow
Few niggly little things, brakes squeal under light braking, antenna rubber is all crumbly..
DSF suspension squeaks on bumps, but just sounds like a dry bush.
Asside from that its in amazing condition!

Woodgrain will go shortly, and they have cleaned the interior fairly well, but the smell of leather cleaner is anoying me. Might grab some Wurth cabin sanitizer from work. Sounds fantastic, but too quiet.. Mostly just engine noise. What id love out of it eventually, a note but not much volume. A nice big boddied muffler would do just nicely

Probably worth considering a suspension refresh kit - my car was totally different after it.

Squeaky brakes should be fixable with a pad change, maybe rotors as well depending on their condition.

There's an eBay seller who does the replacement rubber gasket for the antenna.

Interesting, what does that consist of?
Well the thing is, pads and disks have heaps of meat on them.. Im guessing its just been sitting around for a while, and its getting rid of the rust but will see.
id prefer to get a shark fin antenna if I can

You'd want someone with some level of local support (since our fuel's different, etc).

APR, Custom-Code, GIAC, Unitronic (off the top of my head - APR don't have a flash for this car though) all have local support, with representatives of each brand (or resellers of each brand) participating on this site.

I would have loved the spoiler, but I think taking the badges off will make it too bland.
                                lol pg 4 buddy
But $16,000 onroad (transfers, rego, roadworthy etc)
                                only 75,000kms on it aswell!

Its got an awful brake squeel though, I have a feeling they didn't put the grease on the back of pads when installing them.
