Just read this thread and Castrol Edge Sport gets a bit of a bashing...

I still haven't done my oil change as I am waiting on filters (thanks kindly to Manaz) in the ECS GB so i can't compare.

You must have a different understanding of bashing than me.

Everything said there is true. It complies with the minimum requirements (VW 502 for petrol engines). There are better oils available.

Deisel Vert wouldn't use it (personal choice). I would (have already done so) - personal choice.

true - no doubt there are better oils out there, and no doubt that the "better" oils would have a better price too.

For what that car is (a daily doing 800-1,000 kms per week mostly 60/40 hwy/city) I am relatively confident the Castrol Edge Sport 5w-30 will be fine, especially if I change every 9,000 to 10,000 kms or so.
