look in the logbook or website to find the right oil, the fsi`s dont like the wrong oil... if you hear a timming chain noise in a vw you can be almost sure some baboon has put the wrong oil in......

Repco have a sale on at the moment - up to 50% off.

Guess what percentage they've taken off Castrol Edge Sport 5W30? A bit fat zero...

Oh well, will just wait for SuperCheap to have it on sale again.
          Nothing to see here...

excuse my ignorance, but how often do you need to change the oil?
                  Thanks

cool, thanks ..i dont suppose u have the vw part number? i work at autonexus greystanes (subaru) but autonexus homebush have the VAG stuff, might try and get some on staff discount (other stuff too, wouldnt be much of a saving on a filter)

The minimum requirement is every service interval - every 12,500km for my Bora, I suspect the same for most Mk4s.

However, a lot of people don't think oil does its best work for that long because it deteriorates over time and with use, and like to change the oil between service intervals. I'm a big fan of changing oil every 5,000km, especially given the type of driving my car sees (largely suburban stop-start driving where the engine doesn't run for long.

Some guys I know are doing chemical analysis on their oil at various change intervals to see when the breakdown really starts to occur - but those results will only be useful for them, as every car and every driver are different.

great to know! looks like im gonna stock up as well but this time its for a while

part number for the oil filter i believe is: 071115562C

                              i recommend changing oil at around 8500kms (+ - 750km)

                              peice of mind that is.

CAUTION : AND GUYS DONT FORGET THE 24V TAKES 5.5L OF ENGINE OIL.

                              not 5L like the 12v.
