  • Castrol Edge sport 5w30 doing wonders

hey guys just giving a total thumbs up for castrol edge 5w30 on the bora v6' 4motion motors.

~i had pretty obvious timing chain noise and this stuff has completely eliminated the noise and has made the engine so damn quiet.

~cold starts have also improved dramatically as engine reaches temp quickly.

~oil consumption has also plummeted and engines responds nice and smooth to this oil.

~and offcoarse the oil complies with VW: 502 00/505 00.

what else could you ask for.

    highly recomended.

Great to hear, this was always likely to be the oil I used for my next change, you've confirmed it now...

ditto here... bit pi55ed at Supercheap after missing out on their last prom for this oil. I went to one store who had sold out. They called another store and reserved 2 bottles. Then I got to said second store only to find out none had been put away!! grrr... now have to wait.

Too be honest I found it a little thin for a motor that's done 130k

          It actually created noises

I'll be going a bit thicker next change - prob 10w40 magnatec.

royal purple usually retails for around $100 which may seem overkill if your running stock in everyday driving.

supercheap had a deal not long ago which was $29.99 from $59.99 (but that deal has ended) however one of their associates told me they would have the deal again soon if u can wait till end of january that is.

thank god i bought 5 to last me a while!!!

Given the low number of km I do in my car at present, I reckon I can wait till the end of January.

What's the shelf life of a synthetic oil?

Castrol will nominate 2 years IIRC but if the bottle is unopened & in a cool, dry place I'd go with longer

I have Fuchs oil in mine and it seems to like it a lot.

                            Cheers,
