nah you don't need a special remote, just the usual central locking remote, and then you need to plug your laptop into your car and put some code in there... i've been meaning to find someone to do this for me also.
you hold down lock, and windows go up. hold down unlock, and windows go down.
simillar to how when you put the key in the door, hold it in the locked position, and the windows go up.
quite handy when you forget a window, but would be so much better if i could code the car so that my remote could do this!

What's the story with Mark 4 keys? Did they all come with a remote immobiliser or just the higher end models. I just bought an 03 SE 2nd hand for my missus and it came with two keys with the little light but no remote immobiliser/door lock. Is that normal or has something dodgy happened in the car's life? The rear boot lock is also keyed differently, we have two keys for that too, which we keep in the glovebox.

Occasionally we've found that locking the drivers' door with the key only locks the drivers door leaving the rest unlocked. you then have to unlock, open the door, press the central locking button on the inside of the door, then close it and lock it with the key. Very frustrating but luckily only happens every now and then.

                Cheers,

                Pete.

Nope, just the one button which turns on the light.
