Does anyone know this figure? Just out of intrest really! If there were only 200, there must be a fair few in a ditch on a bend, so how many are left!?!

A few big players strangling the industry, same old story.

If they buy a smashed one here for $15k and someone in Lebanon, or another country will give them $25k, they get sent, with no care as to how many there are here or not.

Also if it gets imported into another country and repaired, it may not be a repaired write off and so worth more.

I follow the progress of most VWs through the auctions and several have just vanished and no-one has the parts!

Yeah I agree with that. It saddens me to think there are so few here but hey...they're here at least and still alive and kicking.

i'd say they already have that status, and the fact that they no longer make an R32 adds to that even more.

Man they are a cool car, at our vw workshop the looks and drive of the Mk4.: rule over the mk5 any day! importing only 200 must a been a price thing, pay half the price for one in the Uk and easy to find, but then again not as intresting over there as there common as poo!!

r32 mk4 just has perfect class, but the 5 to me lost that.
from the tailights, to the position of exhaust, the shiny 'necklace' on the front... yeah just doesn't have the same presence to me.

I heard they made 14,000 alltogether and the 5000 you are thinking of is the no. allocated for the US
