My understanding was that they started the numbering at 51 (so the 51st person didn't get number 1).

That said, it appears from other posts here that I may have dodgy info to start with
      Nothing to see here...

Mine came with no number, plaque, or keyring. But thanks to r32 uberwagen and his poor, unfortunate #88 Puddles, it now does.

#56 - with plaque, two matching keyrings, umbrella, presentation box and pen.

Looks like we have three in a row on the forums here , #55, #56 and #57

Supposedly there are 10,062 globally of which there are 5,000 in the US and 2,391 in the UK, 200 in Australia (well 199 + one damaged in Germany and not sent) and 200 in France.

                Deep Blue Pearlescent - 813
                Diamond Black Pearlescent - 755
                Reflex Silver Metallic - 615
                Moonlight Blue Pearlescent - 57
                Tornado Red - 44
                Grey Anthracite Pearlescent - 31
                Indigo Blue - 76

There have never been an official breakdowns of which are 3 and 5 door though, but the 5 doors are rarer. These are the worldwide numbers:

                Diamond Black (pearl effect): 3,979
                Reflex Silver (metallic): 2,828
                Deep Blue (pearl effect): 2,257
                Moonlight Blue: 419
                Tornado Red: 267
                Indigo Blue (pearl effect): 174
                Grey Anthracite (pearl effect): 120
                Black: 15
                Morano Red (pearl effect): 2
                Jazz Blue: 1

The Jazz Blue one refers to the original 'concept' car that was shown at a car show and is the reason the brake calipers are painted Jazz Blue, and its thought the Morano Red and the flat Black ones are VW owned. The rest of world figures would be included in the difference to the total. (Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc etc)

French cars were also numbered with an "Edition 200" plaque on the cupholder above the radio.

Total Figures from UK tyresmoke site...for some reason they call "Black Magic" "Diamond Black"

Here is a pic of the Jazz Blue Essen Show Car:

                Note the BREMBO calipers!

Totally impossible to see in that photo Graeme.
The wheels look reasonably different on the show car. Around the hub especially looks much deeper with and more circular.
As always you're the font of all knowledge.
Do you know how many came with DSG?
                  Cheers,

Note the Brembo Calipers and smaller cross drilled rotors on the concept car. The wheels on the concept car were Oz Superturismo's I believe.

I believe there were 200 DSGs in Germany only.

Thanks to my esteemed neighbour Alastair for posting the closeup wheel pic
