It depends what you're after.
If you're after something sporty that you can modify for more go, a GTI would be the choice.
If you're after a "get me from point A to point B" appliance, the 1.6L would probably serve you fine.
The 2.0L is somewhere in between.
If you can provide a list of your requirements for a vehicle, and what you're considering as alternatives, that'd go a long way to helping us help you!Nothing to see here...

Thanks Manaz, it is mainly for my wife to drive as i have a t4 transporter tdi,
however it will be our family car ,but we want something that gets along well, handles well, comfortable, manual, without huge maintainance bills,so far we are leaning towards 2.0ltr sports for value for money.unless i am told otherwise.thanks Aaron

Yup, the 2L sports.
Its not very sporty, but reliable and solid.
I`d avoid the 1.6L, engine and gearbox is a bit weak.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists

I'm pretty happy with my Sport and I'd imagine it would suit your needs quite well mate..
I've never driven a GTI or even been in one, but I can appreciate that there would be other cars much faster than my mk4. Saying that, It's still a really nice car which has ok power and good fuel consumption (I did 700kms on one tank of everyday driving once).Mk3.Mk4.Mk1

A bit more go is always nice, and if you can afford it I would get the GTI too. They're ever so slightly more stylish (aesthetics) if i remember correctly and as some have said they're not really that much more expensive!Mrk Detailing, premium automotive detailing. Nice work there mate. She looks nice and tidy.
The colour is Jazz Blue by the way if remember correctly. Only 50k as well, that's a pretty neat find there.
You've done very well for yourself.
Keep us posted on how you're liking it and any mods you have planned etc.
Cheers,
