Courtesy Lighting Not Working

on my mk4 on the r/h/f door the courtsey light isnt working and i've switched the light assembly from the other door to the problem door and it has'nt solved the issue so then i started testing the wiring to see if had power to the light assembly which i found that i did but i dont know what else it could be maybe possible break in the wire im not to sure

I assume the globe is ok....

Make sure there is no part of the light assembly touching anything and grounding out.

Test the actual switch to see if it works.

Don't reckon it's the light. If you have central locking, unlock the door, open door does the car try to relock after 30 seconds or so ? If it does, it means your door lock module is faulty and the car doesn't know the door has been opened or open. There is a guide to repair your door lock module on Vortex do a search on there, or try the FAQ forum for mkiv's but the actual repair thread is buried somewhere there, intense though, so you may just want to purchase a new or refurbished one.

thanks man i do have the prob where the door is open and it locks after 30 sec, i'll have a look at vortex now cheers

it has 2 do with the solder cracking on some sensors one of my rear passenger doors does the same thing. Need 2 take the thing apart and resolder 2 resolve the issue.

that happened to me yesterday! i was inside the car and what i've found out is that when it does that you cant open the car from inside. i tried pulling the door handle - nothing, press the unlock button on the door - nothing. the only way to open it was with the key
