Why does my GTI sound like a WRX today :(

I had the same problem a few months back. A new set of plugs fixed it.

When a coilpack in my Mki5 failed, it sounded just like a WRX!!
One cylinder down and they sound like that.

You've just chipped the thing - It's probably a coilpack.

its gotta be a coilpack, or MAF or new spark plugs.

Th easiest way to test the maf is by disconnecting it. The car will still run normaly without it how ever it will just run a much safer. It wont be as quick but it should be firing on all 4.

This isn't always true. I did the same on mine but it was intermittent...
