Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Well my house mates dog decided to hijack two of the rubber boots from the new arms from my desk (I only found one) so thats put that on hold until a new one arrives.
Some snaps taken by thestu out and about today.
Really need to get tyres without such a big bead/bead protector. Killing my arch to rim loving in the back
Few minor cosmetic changes in the pipeline too

fair while since last update. better keep the diary going
So IDF adjustable control arms went in after some fluffing around with replacing dust covers (house mates dog ate/stole them) and then managing to cross thread one of the arms due to it still being filled with beads from blasting or something) much thanks to Waterboy, his dad, and his dads mates for coming to the rescue as usual!
after the 30 odd mm of toe out (those lowered car problems) was pulled out I had an extra deg of camber added, for those not fimilar with these arms it actually makes the wheel sit out even further, creating a massive wide track set-up on the front of my car compared to the rear.
Im happy with the arms, while it removes the comfort of the bush I had become accustom to driving around with dead bushes and control arms resting on the subframe, so if anything comfort increased by adding these.
Due to that part of the car being stiffer it exaggerates the fact I need a new dog bone mount, the motor is flapping around in the wind and gear changes between 1st, 2nd and 3rd make some lovely noises.
I ran the merc wheels again after the arms in with a even wider adapter on the front (25mm) and kept the existing 15mm on the back.
this really shows off how sunken the front of the mk4s get with a serious drop.
My rear Bilsteins I had ordered close to 2 years ago turned up, as expected still not right.
I had paid extra $$ for them to be professionally shortened, these are just standard which actually means I can no longer get the rear of the car to sit chassis on beam. body of them is about 1" longer then my coilover body.
When I can be bothered legal action will be taken to either get my money back or finally get the product I paid for. such a drainer.
So for DOVW off came the merc wheels. replaced them with some 17x8.5 ksports I had picked up a while back.
few issues had been sorted once I picked up the wheels (hub rings, cleaning up the redrill the previous owner had done with them being converted back to 5 stud).
with much help to water boy again and thestus angle grinder we took to my adapters to shorten the studs down to allow for clearance cap.
the result:
Then this happened one week later/yesterday:
Lucky was just a minor, did cop a 361$ fine thoughLast edited by dylan8; 27-10-2013, 09:30 PM.

Can't believe you've been rocking this since 2009, and can't believe I also thought A8 replicas were acceptable. It has come a long way and been a great manakin for your wheel whoridity. #dylbora #quickmartygetthedylborean
Looks the bees knees man.
