Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

itll be fixed soon Pierre, I think im going to beat my 4 different wheels at 4 different shows this year. Some stupid cool and ultra rare wheels have present themselves to me in the past month or so.
fat rubber is defiantly on the cards. Going to be a tight fit having the car properly slammed on 245s though

few changes including:
tubular control arms with camber adjustment in the front.
Drop plates for additional camber and hub relocation.
new (stock iv had for well over a year) wheels (18x9 225/35).
plus some other major changes.
Anyone got a suggest on what to use to stick the chrome trims back on the doors etc?
I also got the ball rolling on one of many sets of wheels coming for the bora (have the above, and some others off at sand blasters as write this)
18x7.75" Simmon LE in 5x100
going to be built to 8.75" and either 9.75 or 10" with mk4 friendly offsets
I think a full rebuild with new finishes and colours, new hard ware, new lips and barrels on some of the wheels

so some updates...
Genuine Mercedes Segins (6 slots)
18x8et44
18x9et46
fitted here with 215/35 and 225/35
I believe these to be the only set (or one of very few) of the 18" versions in AUS (can get 17s if you look hard enough).
Was pretty keen to one day own a set when Santi ran them as 8s all round on his bora in the US back in 07/08
was trying to find another pair of 9s in decent condition to do 9s all round, but cant be bothered anymore.
being that they are staggered 8s and 9s makes them even more valuable and rare (vortex kids would go nuts)
Iv had a laugh confusing people thinking they are big bob jane chromies, then they look closer and see they are merc wheels with some fitment.

Did anyone spot the other two sets of my wheels at the show
as you can also see I finally fitted air ride.
I first ordered way back in Nov 2011. and while I am still missing the rear struts 16months later and half the stuff that did turn up had wrong fittings (yeah i know) I only got it under way late last year.
boot setup was done end of November 2012 but I was working flat out back in bairnsdale and didnt get to touch it ill feb this year.
with much help and support from the boys we had it bagged in the rear one w.e, next weekend was the front (had to wait to get a fitting changed..)
im running 2x3gal tanks
2x444c compressors
VU4 valve block.
3/8" lines
bagyard bomber fronts
bagyard classic rear bags with TA technix struts (until my shortened bilsteins arrive from bagyard)
e-level management (sensors yet to be installed)
1x single needle (yet to be installed) and 2xdual needle anolog guages in the pocket above the head unit.
plan to add a few extra bits like replacing my electric air horn, a hose with tyre pump on the end, and some sneaky drainage to make maintenance a breeze
Some of the interior hasnt been fitted (or fitted correctly) and the boot needs a tidy up after having some electrical issues first time round.
still need to do some modifications to the car to get it lower, but that will be happening soon once the air ride gets engineered.
best part is I still have a full sized boot, I will have to raise the floor about 1cm to clear a fitting but other then that the boot looks stock as a rock.
I do have some photos of it fully aired up and down on different wheels and the merc wheels.
will have to find them
Im currently stuck on rear beam in the back. so drop plates will be sorting that out and helping me get low. plus some camber
in the front im beached on the driveshaft on the drivers side (no different to when I was static) and on the passenger side im stick on the joint between the control arm and subframe, so the IDF control arms will be sorting that and giving me some camber adjustment to match the rear (although this does effect all the offsets of my wheels and pushes them out further then before...)Last edited by dylan8; 15-03-2013, 04:37 PM.
