My switch is fine though, the bit that is ment to push on it no longer exists on my pedal, so taping it down make the switch think the clutch is still pressed against it. what happened to yours?
No idea, cruise control just doesn't work. I've been told its the clutch switch as i have changed the vehicle speed sensors and i can start the car without the clutch in.

Two biggest issues I see are
      • Need to have the special wrench.
      • Getting the car far enough off the ground to be able to use the cartridge gun to refill the oil.

GAP has the wrenches and filters, I'll have to get the oil from VW locally. To get enough clearance under the car I'll have to run it up on my tandem trailer.
Thanks Pete, saved to my HDD for reference

You should be able to start the car without the clutch in. So that's not a valid way to diagnose the switch.

I thought so but i saw on ecs it said
Is your car having weird issues with revving in between shifts, or can it you start it without pushing the clutch pedal? If so, this could be your problem. This switch is often faulty, and can be hard to diagnose.

              • Thats because US market cars have to push in the clutch for the starter to engage - stops them driving through walls and such in an "unintended acceleration" manner.

                • Wound my front coilovers down another cm on one side 1.3on hte other. I can never seem to get the things level no matter how much i measure them.

When a cars jacked up, and then put back on hte ground, does the suspension stay 'expanded' for a period of time? (say until you take it for a fair old drive)
because even though i lowered it 1cm+ it is almost at the same height still... it did level it self out on the higher side though...
                  Anyone else get this?

Metal ones would be the way to go!
VW said I couldn't get them seperately.

Did find on eBay a company in Germany that did plastic and metal ones. Thought the Boras were the same as the Golfs, at least thats what they were advertising.

                        • Most of the weight of the car is carried on the hub, so should be just as good if matched to the wheel size with hub-centric rings.

                              • yeah I got one that has instructions on how to delete using an MK5 actuator etc is that what you've got?

I found most DIY's on the net assume that I use the factory remote central locking keyfob or install a new switch. My car didn't come with remote central locking, so I'm putting in a Viper alarm, which allows me to add actuators etc, so I had to check what I've got to play with, if there's sensors on the latch that will make the car act up etc.
