Finally finished replacing my sump!
After almost 4 weeks, the car is off the jack stands and can be driven again! Woohoo!Originally posted by MightyCarModsI'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me. Your car is your story, so don't let someone else write the book.

So looks like my Bora exacted her revenge for smashing her sump....in the form of spitting out the black serum/chemical fron the auto chromo mirror all over my console, handbrake lever, gear surround and onto the expensive beige leather seats.
Not too fussed about the console but the rare leather handbrake lever and leather seats are a real shame. They have stained the leather and I can't seem to get it out
Also getting some quotes on that mirror and it ain't cheap either!
Sad day. Why Bora why?
Anyone had similar experiences ?Originally posted by MightyCarModsI'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me. Your car is your story, so don't let someone else write the book.

How my day started, had to tightened my turbos bolts again before work... best way to start a monday morining.
Seems how hot they got at Happy Laps yesterday was too much. Not sure what more I should do to stop them coming loose!
A couple months ago I put in some 10.9/S rated structural bolts, with high temp locktite and Nordlock washers, and still came loose

What's the go with your and brake?
Really getting fed up with this rubbish quality interior. You'd never guess this was once a 55k car. I've been in cars worth half that with better interiors. My first car was older than this and half it's price brand new, and it didn't have worn & torn leather, paper thin brittle plastics that look like they've been mutilated by a sand blaster, cloth peeling off trims and cracks through any and every woodgrain. To top it all off the mirror ****s itself and ruins half the interior.
Not happy today.

The fluid is stuck on the plastic well. I've tried to scratch it with my nail and it's level with the plastic so it's actually stained the plastic. There is a goop of it near the shifter and it feels like it has moulded onto the gear surround.

Just after she had her broken sump, broken coolant pipes & pieces, broken interior bits, ****ty wiring, broken engine recirc hoses and now a broken rear vision mirror.
The solution it seems so far is to get a new centre console. Plenty at the wreckers because they can be stripped from any old MKIV golf.
Bigger issue for me is working how the hell I'm going to get it out of the leather :/

Not sure what prices you were quoted but I got one for $80 shipped from eBay UK. Good luck!
