I tried similar, got some damage over the top of existing damage on my boot, insurance said is have to pitch in, even though both lots of damage required a respray seperate to each other.

I know that one insurance company wouldn't fix damage on a mates car because of pre-existing damage. Instead they paid him what they would have spent and let him sort it out.

Hmm, yeah. I guess it depends on who quotes/appraises it... doesn't look like it'll be able to be done though.. it seems like a waste of everyone's time & money to fix each thing separately, as opposed to fixing them all at once..

Cheers lads, I got run into though, this wasn't just carpark damage - bumper had to be repaired & minor damage to the hatch. The front end still needs a respray but that's from stone chips etc, wasn't gonna get that under insurance.

                  What clutch did you get?
How do you find it feels/works for you?

Most important question on my mind lately... How can I tell when I need to order a new one?

I got the stage 1 kit from ecs with the 14lbs flywheel, it feels great and is fine with the chatter at idle hardly notice it at all.

Not sure the best way to tell when there are tips online if you looks, my car has done 140k km and with the chip its only a matter of time I guess.

On another note used the a/f chart from ross tech and here's the results think I have a big problem

Its going to the workshop tomorrow for the CV boot and o2 sensor, what else should I get him to look at ????

It'll feel like its still pressed in a little when its not. Kinda like if you were riding the clutch a little. It'll get worse and worse, it shouldn't just fail. In other words, the slipping will get more noticeable (lotsa revs, not so much power) and you'll have a while (depending on your driving) before its unusable.

Thanks guys. I also got told to get it stationary on flat ground, put it in 5th, and very slowly let the clutch out, and if it stalls then that means the clutch is fine, but if it starts moving, then the clutch is on its way out... any merrit? Mine seemed to start to creep forward a tiny bit, like about 2-3m, then shuddered and stalled. I'll have to look into it more.. Any good links appreciated!...

Also, what's the difference between the 14lb and 20.5lb clutch kits? Just driving 'feel'? Or functionally different? I'd hate to try to explain the 'chatter' at idle with the 14lb one if I ever tried to sell it... Many thanks in advance..

Yeah that sounds about right. Its probably ok. If, on a hot day, you shift into 2nd and punch it, you will notice the revs going up but the car is not responding at the same rate as the revs, then it's slipping. Clutches can respond a lot to hot weather, so much so that you might have another year in it, but because they can get SERIOUSLY hot, you can experience slipping.

I'm assuming its the weight of the clutch plate. I'd assume that if you have some mods on the car you could get the larger one. Baby clutches will slip when you put lots of power through them. Keep in mind that it will be heavier to push also.

I've had brass button clutches, twin plate clutches, heavy duty etc in my GTR's. So heavy that simply driving out of a car park gives you a dead leg and you drive in 3rd everywhere because you dont want to shift. These babys can chatter really badly.

                          • I found a good way to check clutch condition is to drive pretty slow (10-20 odd) then shift into 5th and try to accelerate, revs go up, clutch is slipping, engine struggles, everything is ok!
