If Gav can get to your car, the ecu can even stay put, the big plug comes out, the adapter plugs in and in a few minutes it's done. Simple as that, and awesome power gains. All these do, even if another company replaces/adds a chip, is change fuel and timing mapping and alters boost.
If Gav cant get to your car, post him the ecu in an overnight bag, Gav will flash it and post it right back. A couple of days turn around, all done. His price beats everyone else as well, and will depend a bit on what you need and what you have.
He has a thread on the process somewhere, hit him up if you are interested. I paid under $700, but had a clean unaltered ecu.

But essentially a downpipe or muffler that just adds a slightly better/deeper note, but nothing that draws unwanted attention..
The unit is a downpie and cat section, joins on at the regular place and goes back to the rear muffler. 3" at the engine end and a reducer section to join onto the muffler section. Check Tim's post on them, his pics show it all. I could go the full system, but what i have now works really well.

I drove my car today. First time since it went away on a tow truck many weeks ago.
But the original problem I had was a strange knocking/rumbling noise, that has not gone away.
The noise is probably a wheel bearing or CV it will go back next week for full diagnosis, but I have been assured that it will not blow up.
What got fixed was the damage caused by the shearing of the rivets on the crown wheel.
I also had the tappet cover gasket done, it was leaking oil around the coil packs. And the power steering pressure sensor was leaking a bit too.
So no more buses for me !MK4 GTI - Sold

How much did the rivets damage cost? I forget, was this on a 1.8T AGU engine & gearbox?Dark Grey Mk4 Golf, 1.8T GTI conversion, APR stage 1, stock air intake, FMIC, 3" to 2.5" Exhaust, FK AK Street Coils, Black 18" (Avant Garde M310's ?), tinted tails, ...

The bolt kit was $330. It is the same problem the 1.6 golfs have. This is the 1st my mechanic has seen in a 1.8T. Yes I do give it a lot of stick, I quite often rev the **** out of 1st to redline ( I never up the revs and dump the clutch however). I have bigger heaver wheels too.
I needed a speedo drive gear also, $44. This took 3 weeks from Germany, no one stocks this in AU or Asia.
9 hours labour also.MK4 GTI - Sold

That scares the **** out of me. But it seems to be a lot rarer on the 1.8T gearboxes though..
Most people have never had to think about it, and they are putting so much more power through the 1.8T ones than the little 1.6L's, without failure too. They'd HAVE to be stronger than the 1.6L ones wouldn't they? Otherwise every 2nd 1.8T modder would be throwing gearbox rivets right?
My gearbox code appears to be: EVSLast edited by kendog; 18-10-2012, 11:52 PM.Dark Grey Mk4 Golf, 1.8T GTI conversion, APR stage 1, stock air intake, FMIC, 3" to 2.5" Exhaust, FK AK Street Coils, Black 18" (Avant Garde M310's ?), tinted tails, ...
