  • That does look pretty smick!
How do you like your GIAC chip and does your turbo run out of puff at about 5,000rpm or have you upgraded that too?
Mk IV Golf GTI - BMP - GIAC chip, R32 wheels, KW coilovers, rear swaybar.

No turbo upgrade yet tho its getting close on the list. The GIAC tune is great but I have had issues with holding vac and boost. I've blown most of the vac lines which are now all replaced with fuel lines. Still have a small leak somewhere but it will hold 16psi up to 6000rpm. Tho don't get much chance to test it. Anyone know a good dyno in Melbourne west

Now I'm a little concerned. Mine runs well but I never go beyond 5000rpm as it seems to run out of puff.
          Maybe I'm loosing vacuum somewhere?

If you have a boost gauge vac (hg) should at least be at or above 18, mine will rest at 22 at idle. The main vac line I've had heaps of problems with the hose that runs under the intake manifold that the pcv system runs to also check the two at the that run from the manifold to the fpr and div.

Is hard to see the split in the hose but its in the center, made a horrible noise under boost.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't actually have a boost guage installed but do have one lying around somewhere.
Will check the vacuum lines and see how I go.

Does yours boost to 16psi just from the chip or is it due to the N75J?
              Thanks heaps!!!

                    They're C5 RS6 reps. OEM only came in 5x112.

Super easy to clean too which is an added bonus

Sorry for the late reply, the psi is all in the tune the n75 valve is more about how boost comes on and how it holds it, but don't quote me on that others here could give a better example I'm sure.

All good. I always thought that the n75J just fooled the ecu re the wastegate, kinda like a turbosmart valve.
Like Gav has pointed out, my 18s are probably the reason that I'm not happy with the acceleration down low.

I gave it some stick on the weekend and had no problem hitting 6000.
Car actaully goes pretty damn good.. especially round corners!

When the clutch dies, I'll probably go for a lightened flywheel and stage 1 clutch.

That's what I think I'll be up for after not too long too.. maybe after Christmas I could afford someone to install it... You looking at the "ECS Tuning, Stage 1, 14lb" kit too?

The ECU controls the output of the turbo with the actuator, via the N75. The duty cycle varies to allow boost pressure through, this opens the wastegate and remove the drive to the turbo, allowing exhaust gases to flow around the turbo.

The duty cycle is written in the map so it's important that the person writing the map knows the actuator pressure. This is the max boost you can get if the N75 stops working. If the map is written expecting 7psi and the actuator allows 10PSI, then you will get overboost everywhere.

If the actuator is 5PSI, it'll not make max boost.

Yep! not sure if I should go 20.5lb or 14lb.
Some of the guys on here have said that they experience under dash vibration with the 14lb, so before I do it, I want to go for a spin in someones gti that has the 14 pounder, just to see if it's bad enough to bother me.

Hmmm, that's no good at all, I hadn't heard any feedback from users yet. I'd love to know more about it, how common it is and how bad it is before I buy too! Keep us posted!!
