Agree with this - genuine Thermostat $84.00 and Temp Sender $64.90 from VW - ridiculous when you look at UK pricing or even ECS with shipping.

        • Sigh another day another $1.3k bill (minus about $800 due to my own part order sigh). Which didn't really solve anything. All it did was prove that more money needs to be spent to fix this problem. Turns out the sensors fine but the signals getting lost somewhere so my mechanic has to sit down and look through wiring diagrams and pull the interior to pieces to find what's wrong. He's suggesting the instrument cluster is probably the cause so if anyone has a second hand one ill be interested.

Why oh why do i have to like cars and not something cheap like kites or something....

Oh well, Here's the rest of the weeks job!

Mate might sound stupid but check your earth connections if you have done any work interior or exterior and removed any wiring might good place to look!!!

                            • I'm officially a broken man thanks to my car.......

its soul destroying and demoralising me at the moment. It shouldn't take 6+ unsuccessful hours to fit a tranny.
