  • Cleaned the wheels and sealed them. Freaken brought some wheel cleaner only to find out you can't use it on split rims. Also changed the wiper blades.

    • I pulled out a handful of foam from the air vents. To fix the root cause looks like a hell of a job.

just dont spray in where the pieces join.
if my barrels are full of tar and cv grease i just use it on there and have the hose ready if it gets on the sealed joins
id also suggest not using anything aggressive near the clear coated lips and bolts etc

            • Paint - Matte black Plastidip shot with a Wagner HVLP gun. First time shooting anything like it, and well pleased. I also believe its the first Plastidipped car in Australia.

                      • I want to lick your matte black Bora.

Well it seems my passenger side lower grill did a runner on me. I treated him well but I guess he hated me.
Also finally stopped being lazy and got my wheels aligned (after wearing down my tyres on the outside!). I meant to do them right after I got my suspension in and wheels on, but it was such a long drawn out process that I forgot!

                        • looks very nice dude. Is there much bits of dust n dirt in the paint?
And did you strip the car down or just mask everything up?

                          • Am putting the car on stock LCAs and stock R32 front and rear shocks and springs, adding comfort on my long trips and taking away (i imagine) my ride height and compliance obviously.

Remember I still have the skirts and rear bar to shoot and fit.

yeah, great pick up. I didn't have a great camera to shoot the shots, but as the coats were on and i stirred up so much dust then it is all over the car. I am convinced you can get a beautiful finish in a booth, but I wanted to literally shoot on a driveway as proof the Plastidip is very forgiving.

What i've ended up with is a textured paint thats quite rough but i think it adds to the matte finish and helps to really break up my poor paint shoot. Sure, there are bits of fluff, dirt, and small bugs in the paint but its a genuine home job and I gave it a crack. tbh i am stoked with the result and maybe i could lay some ground sheets next time to keep the dirt at bay.

                            • Always had an interest in matte black, but I'm not sure about the whole car and wheels hahaha. Either way great work, certainly pull it off, just lower it now!!
