battery died after driving the car, wasn't charging.
Tracked it down to the alternator, and swapped it for another - all good.
Now just hope it was a dud regulator and nothing special took it out...
Back to the great AC fans saga - did the resistor mod, changed the FCM, and big fan and AC work, no little fan at all - now suspect dud small fan. Resuistor mod fixed big fan and at least the FCM was cheap on ebay, will keep it for spareComment

Check for corrosion in the tail light. You may have a small crack allowing water in, it corrodes the contacts and the light stops working.MK4 GTI - Sold
