Camber adjustment on lowered mk4's

Hey, has anyone out there looked at camber kits for the rear on their mk4? When lowered, my Bora 4mo has got some serious negative camber going on, thinking its going to chew through tyres really quickly.

There are plenty of shims and whatnot going around, but I've never used them. After replacing too many tyres on IRS-equipped Commodores on not likely too either.

How much negative camber are we talking about here?
Rotating the tyres very regularly will definitely help out there, but yeah some adjustable control arms are an option as well.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. Is it possible to adjust camber on 4motions? Thought I read somewhere it can't be done that easily...

talking 4-5 degrees I'd say at a guess, although I'm going to get an alignment done again tomorrow so I'll get an accurate figure then. Just strikes me as bizarre that there is so much camber when its only been lowered an inch or so. And no, apparently there is virtually no camber adjustment on the bora 4mo, only toe in/out.

my golf is more than 1 inch lower,dub20v and shami are lower than me,and we all dont have such negative camber.infact,id say the negative camber would be minimal.
who fitted the lowered spring? what brand springs? have you done any other alterations to the suspension???

is the suspension set up on the 4motion that much different to the fwd bolf?

Yeah that is an excessive amount. I don't know whether the setup is similar to the R instead of the normal golf but still. With about a 30mm drop or so i've now got between -2 and -2.5 degrees now.
Where did you get your alignment done? Just wondering if they're machine is out of calibration or someting, I really wouldn't have thought it would change that much.

springs are H&R's, and they were fitted by Pedders.

I had swapped back to the OEM springs about six months ago as the car was being driven by others and I was sick of having to replace the plastic cover on the bottom of the engine when they drove over something the shouldn't have.

But I couldn't help but switch back to the lower springs... so its at Pedders again right not getting them put back in. They're doing an alignment as well of course, so I'll know for sure what the camber is when I get it back this afternoon...

hey cus, Ive got the same problem. I have fitted the R32 Euro suspension kit to my Bora 4motion. It only lowered about 1inch (still more than 1 inch between tyre and guard) but the rear wheels are very negative now. The outer 3-4cm of the tyre tread doesn't even touch the ground. There is a fair bit of toe-in as well which should negate a lot of tyre scrubbing, but I only have about 500km on my new wheels and tyres and I can already notice a difference in tread wear. Will need to rotate every 1000km!!

Its impossible for me to tell by eye whether it has 2,3,4 degrees of negative camber, but it is more than I think it should be.

I can't understand how the differences between a bora4mo and .: would be too drastic either...?

Either way, something doesn't sound right on installation.
