It might just plug and play. In my experience most 1Js with heated mirrors report faults on VAG-COM and don't work anyway.Originally posted by intensem1 View PostOk cheers for that, I’m wondering how heated mirrors will go on a 99 or 2000 gti? They are from a 2001 gti. Would the wiring loom be different? I suspect it would all be in the mirror itself, so it’s just a matter of power?
I had a 3 year old Beetle and they didn't work on that either.

Just for reference, what were the VAG-COM errors?Originally posted by h100vw View PostIt might just plug and play. In my experience most 1Js with heated mirrors report faults on VAG-COM and don't work anyway.

Did you find out why they didn't work on the Beetle?
(Luckily, mine have never played up or reported errors. I've found them to be a great bonus on -4 degrees mornings)

It said the mirror was open circuit IIRC. I bought the car to sell on and it was spring so I didn't spend the £££ on mew mirrors.Originally posted by No457 Snowy View PostJust for reference, what were the VAG-COM errors?

99% certain mine are heated as well. They come on with the rear windscreen demister I believe - never gets cold enough here to notice
I'd guess anyone with electric mirrors had heat too, but if the mirrors are manual then probably not. Did any Mk IVs even have manual mirrors???

Not necessarily. The stock mirrors in the R aren't blue tinted and are still heated. I've since swapped to blue tinted heated aspherical mirrors though.Originally posted by SoVeReIgN View PostFrom memory if your mirrors have a slight blue tinge they are heated ?
