Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MK4 GTI sourcing of parts in AUS/future build

    Hi All,

Been a browser of this forum for a while now, enjoy all the cool builds for the MK4s over the years. have owned a 2.slow in the past and current owner of a AGU gti. have had this car sitting for years now with only ever driving it for a total of 2000kms in the last five years. initially bought as a project and as many projects shes been sitting with the funds constantly eluding me lol.

Anyway, the moral of this post is due to this car sitting for so long pretty much all the gaskets and seals have deterioratedand need replacing. seeing this as an opportunity to start building i figure why not start replacing and getting it ready for a 300hp output, in the safest way possible

so please anyone that knows distributors of parts in australia for these awesome cars please feel free to let me know.

also happy to get any advice on all OEM components that probably need a swap out, things like water pump etc to make sure she runs as smoothly as possible before heading in the direction of bigger turbo, intercooler brakes etc.

once i pull out the engine will be trying to update this as much as possible. For the OGs out there im a big fan of littos build and might want to head in a similar direction.

It doesnt need anything special to make 300 hp, just bolt on a Littco L280 and external hardware.

The thing that will make life hard is the AGU ecu. ME3.8 isnt that good for tuning. I would recommend converting to ME7 as a much easier road to tuning.

This ECU is found in the 9N3 Polo GTI, Facelift A3 turbo and most TTs.
