Well, the VIN is used by a dealer to make sure the part no's are correct for your car. Go to a dealer and they will ask you the same question and they will give you the part no.

As a matter of interest, what were the prices?

$750 for new pads and rotors all 'round doesn't seem too bad. But then maybe I've owned a VW for too long and I'm just used to it.

Well that's a pretty swee deal if you ask me. For just front rotors, I was looking probably pretty close if not more of that price. Craziness but that's what happens when you have frong brake rotors as big as most small cars wheel.

Ferodo make the pads too, but probably isn't worth it IMO. Bendix has advantages of better compound, don't need to bed them in (for the GCT's), doesn't void any factory warranty if you're still covered by one. Is maybe $30 difference usually between the 2 brands. Main expense would be the rotors.

My bad... Ferodo don't make them, only Bendix. And they cost more than Bendix pads for other cars too!

I'm fairly sure the pads needed are DB1405's for the front, DB1449's for the rear. They're worth $96.95 per set from Bendix, otherwise... might be possible to get for $59.52 from Brake Parts Australia - through supercheap... then there's freight on top. but meh.

then... for rotors... DBA are making a stack on them IMO... Fronts i think are DBA806 ($116.96 std, $250.95 slotted) and rears DBA803 ($92.95 std, $150.95 slotted) EACH... which is insanely expensive! most other cars you'd get slotted for about as much as standard ones for these cars...

My front rotors and pads went the other day, thanks to James at Audvolks being as sharp as he is, he had stock of RDA Rotors and EBC Redstuff pads i promptly had them installed along with Castrol Silver Brake fluid. Seems to be pretty good so far !

The RDA pads are slotted and dimpled (Not drilled) so this should hopefully stop hairline cracks. I will take a pic if you are interested to see what they look like.
