The manual states 201hp (150kW), take around 30% for Haldex and driveline losses to give 143hp. So while I am only 10hp up after the flash, the torque figure more than makes up for it
As for the exhaust upgrade, they're just Pierre's Oettinger tips! Although Jimmy did mention investigating a better rear section to remove some of the restriction.
When you figure I fitted a full V6 STi exhaust to my last Liberty for only $400, I can't really justify spending between $1200-1500 for a custom or SuperSprint exhaust for the Bora. An EVO Motorsport intake, on the other hand...

due to the rear drive assembly there isnt a lot of room for the muffler to face directly rearwards, so the 4mo Bora rear box is designed similiar to the R32, and sits across the back. This adds to the cost of custom boxes due to additional "donut" sections, mandrel bends parts and labour.

You're right Dave, as my other option is bolting in an R32 rear section?
Though this could get expensive with the amount of custom pipework involved, blanking off/rerouting the dual outlet to the cutout on the passenger side of the rear valance in the Bora... And a decent custom system is the wrong side of $1k? Hmmm...
Most importantly, it would be good to know if there are any solid gains to be had in fitting the R32 item, as it would be a bit pointless swapping out the rear section for an R32 jobbie, only to discover it flows the same as the existing one?
If that turns out to be the case, I think I'd rather spend that money on drivetrain upgrades like a better clutch and flywheel, for example.
As for the intake, it will run an OEM filter but flow more efficiently than the OEM airbox.
So as you may have read here, I finally got around to organising the HALDEX service (thanks for the reminder Jimmy ) as well as adding some very worthwhile and long-awaited upgrades including a new TT metal impeller water pump (Kolbenschmidt stylz yo), a DG 6 speed shortshifter and the TyrolSport brake kit from Dave's recent GB. Also had the perished aerial seal replaced along with the base.
First the good news, and that's that JMac managed to get the old (plastic-toothed) pump out just in the nick of time, as it had thrown three blades and was looking a bit ordinary, although not entirely shagged, after 150k of faithful service. The stock pumps certainly have their work cut out trying to keep the 2.8 lump cool and it had performed admirably but certainly needed to be swapped. I'd hate to think what would have happened had the other fins let go...? I'm confident the new metal-finned item should perform the task with far greater efficiency.
The DG shortshift kit is a bit of a revelation and makes for a more positive feel and action for Borat's 6 speed 'box. For anyone who's driven one, it reminds me of the old Fiat X/19 four speeders that needed nothing more than a firm wrist to swap between cogs: anything more hamfisted resulted in you either miss-slotting, or sitting there with the raspy twin-cam revving away with a handful of neutrals! The SS kit rewards a positive, methodical action and forces you to rid yourself of the lazy technique associated with the sloppiness of the rubbery OEM shift.
To be honest, I really didn't know what to expect with the TyrolSport brake kit but this, too, has proven to be a fantastic upgrade. The feel now reminds me of the brake set-up on my previous Liberty, which ran slotted WRX 4 pots and a Cusco brake booster. The inclusion of TyrolSport's kit means a far more immediate and firm braking feel that also allows better modulation during enthusiastic downshifts. The results is a more direct pedal feel which actually requires far smaller and more precise inputs as the calipers are no longer twisting under force, so far less braking effort is lost through the less than ideal OEM design.
After almost two years of careful and considered mods, I'd never have expected the Bora to have come together as such a fun, focused package.
