No that's just the (early morning) lighting, but it does give a bit of an idea of how the new badge might look?

Good work 4WM, hopefully we'll both find this a positive experience, as there seems a lot of good info around here with plenty of help on hand

Update: Just discovered that my '02 Bora... is actually an '03.

Makes what I paid for it even more of a steal now...

                  Nice 202 mate.
Definitely looks cleaner than my 201.
All the best with the Bora, and good to see you have started changing parts already.
                  Welcome.

                    Thanks Mal.

I'm actually trying to get hold of some photos of what the 202 looked like after Mum's accident. Not pretty, I can assure you.

                    Pics to follow.

                          Wheel upgrade

Finally got around to upgrading the wheel/tyre package today lads.

Was debating between 17" Vs 18" and as I said in this thread, I prefer to spend my money on the best tyres I can get, rather than big wheels rolling on rubbish.

I considered a few designs, including ones from GMax, Speedy and Advanti, or staying true and opting to keep it stealth OEM stylz (yo).

This is just a selection, but it ended up there was either no 17" option in the wheels I was after, or they only came in 5x112 (and the wrong offset). This meant considering 18"s, meaning even more research to try and get a competitive deal. (For anyone with mad PhotoChop skillz, I wonder what that R8 replica rim would look like?)

After much deliberation, OEM won out and I chose the earlier model Audi RS4 replicas: PCD 5x100 18x8 on 225/40 (ET35). Minty.

I then had to shortlist a decent set of boots, which consisted of:

                          Budget:
                          • Kumho Ecsta KU31
                          • Hankook Ventus K104

                          Performance:
                          • Yokohama ADrive R1
                          • Falken FK-452

                          Premium:
                          • Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001
                          • Pirelli Dragon/PZero
                          • Continental SC2/3

I commute to work by bike (on Continental GP4000S, out of interest) so my car spends most of the week quietly locked away in my garage. So tyre life wasn't going to be an issue. Which, as good as they are for the price, quickly removed the hardwearing Kumho and Hankook.

I have run two sets of A.Drive R1s on my Subarus and cannot fault them. If anyone here is looking for a well priced performance tyre, do yourself a favour and get on the Yokohamas. They are brilliant. I'd heard mixed reports on the FK-452s (lifesavers in the wet, not so great in the dry) and as the price was similar to the Yokohmas, opted for the devil I knew. Scratch Falken.

Like anything, the more you ask the more you learn. Meaning I'd always thought premium 18" rubber would be mind-bendingly expensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that quality 18" tyres were actually not that much more than 17"s. Except the Continental SportContacts, for which I was quoted an eye-watering $3000 for an 18" package. And $3k was the best quote... ( * faints * )

So long story short, we were only talking a matter of a few $100 between the Yokohama or the Pirelli. And as The Boss ran Pirellis on his daily driver (in 20", no less! But he probably gets them at cost?) I opted for PZero Nero on 18x8 RS4 replica rims.

So this is my recipe for a 2003 Bora V6 4Mo' wheel/tyre upgrade.

                            Ingredients:

                            Take one stock(ish) '03 Bora 4Motion

                            Add 4 Pirelli PZero Nero...

                            ... combine a set of 9-spoke RS4 replicas

Add fitting, balancing and aligning, wait patiently for 2 hours and... voilà!

Great looking wheels, now all you need to do is get some VW center cap stickers and lower the car a tad and then you won't have to touch it ever again

                              Great car.

Centre caps are on the way, but I'm seriously considering leaving them silver?
