Ahh I didn't see you were in Melbourne. I've heard good things about Volkspower in Burwood and another VW specialist in Clayton (the name evades me). I can't personally vouch for either personally but plenty of others on here can.

Also VW Tech on these forums does some work from home who is apparently the man when it comes to our Vee Dubs

My car was "jumping" forward after an engine mount had gone, only when I clutched under load though.

all the filters, plugs oil change, brake flush, power steering fluid

Volks affair quoted $380 for a full service its cheap as, but **** me they didnt call me and say its gonna cost this much, they just rang me and said yeah mate its done thatll be $297 thanks.

volks affair told me that the factory headunit reads the speed sensor off the ECU to turn the volume up when you speed up to compensate for the road noise, the aftermarket headunit didnt have this obviously, so when they hooked it up the sensor didnt reads nothing and the ECU shat itself

as far as im concerned the "professional installer" should have known this and if he dosent i shouldnt be stuck with the bill to fix it.

I trusted them because volks affair said that they have done heaps of MKIV boras in the past

Where do you think i stand guys?

I didn't know they did that!

I just got an ISO plug and play harness, took the old deck out, connected the ISO's and away it goes... pretty sure my cruise control still works.

maybe he was trying to bypass something and accidently ****ed something?

ill be talking with him tomorrow so ill keep u guys posted

I go to V Affair aswell, as they are more then reasonably priced compared to most in Melb...

But tell Tom he is full of ****, "change in speed makes the radio louder", lol.... please.

I have done the same as most here, biought the ISO - JVC plug and if what they are saying is true, then i would have the same problem as you buddy.

Go back 2 the sound shop and demand a refund of the repairs and their **** service.

$297 for an ecu reset and CC configure????

I could reset your ecu in 2 mins flat, and it would cost however many litres of fuel to get to your place!!

That is if it's as simple as other cars, i.e disconnect battery terminals, then touch +ve and -ve terminals together to completely drain the system of current, BAM! system reset

                                Dunno bout the CC tho.....

On another note, I have been looking for a good VW place to get my Golf done when servicing comes around, thanks for the heads up Alper!
