  • MKIV Bora Cruise control & Gear Changing

Since i got my head unit installed yesterday it seems that the cruise control has shat itself completely, could this be linked to the head unit install, maybe the guy ****ed up some kind of electrics? not sure

another thing is when ever i seem to change up gears especially from 2nd to 3rd i get this jolt forward, never happened before. I'm a newb so the only thing i could bloody put it down to is that some kind of fuse is blown or the ECU is effected, im so pissed off because i used the CC to get to this place and the moment i drove out, car felt different and CC was buggered.

    Any help/advice is appreciated guys

    Cheers!

Maybe it's just a blown fuse, but if it's not I'd be taking it straight back and demanding some answers.

      X2.

Probably did the old chop chop of wires than held them all together with those hideous screw butt connectors the duct taped it all together!

saw the guy doing most of it, seems really well done. Ive taken it to Volks Affair so they can see if anything is up

just really not sure whats causing the huge jolts forward when upshifting. could it be ECU related? if so could i just reset it?

ok the chances are the install of the new radio did not cause the problem/s you are experiencing, but in saying that, if the K-line has been connected to your new aftermarket radio then it will start throwing error codes inthe ECU, which in turn could potentially cause it hence i'm mentioning this to you.

out of 7 golf/bora/Jetta Mk4 radio's i have installed only one of them have i actually used the factory radio harness.

Hopefully this sheds some light that you can try and pin point on.
Also do you know anyone that has vag-com that can scan your car for you?
Maybe then you can find out what the problem is.

yeah it was the afternmarket headunit interfering with the CC and ECU

volks affair just called me up and charged me $297 for the ECU reset and the CC reconfig.

            FFS!

and this was caused by the ****in car install place

hmmm i used teh factory harness with some aerpro adapters. Seems to be working ok for the past year and a bit. But yah, one minutes its working the next it isn't, something they have done. But maybe the problem was always there just lurking until they touched something to make it more obvious.

stfu grow some ****ing balls, and go back to the installer and ask them to pay the bill.

seriously, are you missing a few?

I am certain they recommeneded the place around the corner, maximum sound or some **** on city road?

they have plenty of cash, the issue was a direct result of their work, go round their and make them pay.

they are meant to be professional audio installers/auto elecs and would know a BS job on a vag car can result in this kinda ****... they aint dumb.

Go easy mate! Everyone handles things differently... But I do agree, take the car back to the installer and hand them the bill. You wouldn't be paying $500 if the dead-beets damaged a panel in their possession.

                            haha you guys have misunderstood

i am going there in about 1 hour to tell them that i will not be paying any fees. I've already got a demand letter written and a complaint form ready and waiting from the VACC.

I only asked were i can take the dub from now on. (in melbourne)
