I may go with coilovers and a moderate drop.

    Haldex upgrade for sure.

    Then a mild exhaust.

That'll be it, aside from maybe removing the V6 4Motion badges to keep the sleeper look.
There's a Haldex upgrade for sale.
    $600 bux.

        Hmmm,

There's a fair bit of "knocking" sounds coming from under the front of the car, particularly at low speed when turning tightly in car parks. I'm guessing it's suspension/steering rack related, is this expected/unusual?

          CV joints probably.

For the low mileage your vehicle has done, this is unusual. At 170,000kms my 2001 4Motion does not have any clunks etc. I would get a VW specialist with some experience with the 4Motion have a look at it. Did you have the vehicle inspected prior to purchase? John

We didn't do an inspection - the noises have only just started though in the last few days, and I only notice it at very low speeds in very quiet areas (quiet car parks).

The rear brakes seem to squeel a bit when reversing too, I'll get them looked at as well.

It seems I'll have a Haldex controller shortly, and when that's put in, I'll have a report done on the rest of the stuff.

              Cheers!

I just took the car down to see Sebastian (it was great that he could see me on such short notice).

Seems some of the bushes under the front of the car need replacement, so I'll get that done along with the Haldex and the 90,000km service all together in a week or so.

We got talking about suspension, exhaust, handling, I foresee much expense in my future!

Hmmm, just found something else annoying. There's a really sharp "sucking" sound" right at the start of acceleration when blipping the throttle when the car is stopped - a "pfft" sound, like air being sucked through a badly sealed pipe/airbox until the pressure buildup closes the gap.

Will get Sebastian to look at that too.

                        R32 brakes - worth pursuing?

How available are the standard R32 brakes (at realistic prices), and do they fit under 17" wheels (such as the Bora Sport wheels)? Are they a worthwhile upgrade over the stock brakes on the Bora V6 4Motion?

Well, an upgraded front swaybar and Haldex controller upgrade was certainly worth doing!

Well, the next step is taken care of - I've paid a deposit on a set of R32 brakes. Should be able to pick them up pretty shortly.

The plan to move to 17" wheels has obviously gone out the window (since R32 brakes won't fit under 17s), so the next thing I'll have to look for will be 18" wheels. My current "dream" set are 18x8 ET35 RS10s, as follows:

They'll probably cost me about $5k landed, so I may have to consider something else
