I'm not sure if it worked, I just found the photo on Vortex in a thread about modding intakes and there was no follow up report (surprise), but how could you put any value in the claimed results from a person who possesses such a level of workmanship and obvious attention to detail.

It worked excellently in my MK3, I can't see this happening to newer cars though, most people are just too unwilling to play around with them and potentially ruin a perfectly good airbox
I would be more inclined to do a elbow*pipe* of the standard airbox with a K&N filter.....
Yeah, If you wanted to try something, I reckon a 3 inch cold air feed similar to the one I did in the other thread going up to the stock box with a K&N. You could use an intake adapter like the silver one in my pics bolted to the inside of the air-box and clamp the hose onto it. It would look nice and stealthy with a clean/pro look.

Snowy.
Snowy send me a link to wat you did m8 please...i would be interested in looking!.......Your car looks the goods also m8 real nice
Here's the link mate, I mean to just put the hose into the stock box using a similar intake adaptor I've used here at the funnel (the silver bit). You could pass this through a hole in the box and bolt it in using the four mounting holes, then clamp the cold air feed onto it. Would look pretty neat I think and you'd get better feed than swiss-cheesing and ruining the box.

Is the walk before you can run principle... figure the pipework out 1st.
Got my filter today... probably gonna wait till change oil before install it. Then if i got time during the week, run down to castle hill and get muffler installed, etc. Hopefully the combined effect will be decent.
I'm going to try getting my hands on this 76mm X 1metre Silicone Intake Piping here, apparently it's nice and smooth on the inside, but ribbed outside to prevent collapsing. Then I'll do a replacement and I think that'll have me sorted. Hmmm, might even go with blue to suit my other pipes.
Assuming the part # is SILBK for the black one, i'll check supercheap tomorrow for a price/avaliable through there. Dunno if i'll be able to fit a 76mm secondary hose though... checked supercheap today, there's 2" intake pipes, decent inside/fairly smooth. not cheap but for a pipe - retail for about $17 for a short length - i think because it's meant to be replacement hose, not "customising" hose.
