Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Why do people say the mk3 starter won't work on the 02J?

    Hi all,

I've got an 02J waiting replace an 02A in a Mk3 VR6. I've been told the 02A starter motor won't work, however when looking for a starter to suit the 02J it also states it fits the MkIII VR6 2.8 so I'm assuming that would be vice versa.?

    Cheers,

    Mustillo

Depending on which way you go you need to modify a couple of things. Very easy while the box is out of the car though
    Bora gone
    Vento VR6
    MKIV GSW TDI
    7P Touareg TDI

Well I want to buy a new starter that is made to fix the box correctly, read enough misleading forum posts.
