    guys got a question

my passenger front reg is broken cause the green wheel that holds the reg cord in place is worn away at one side (no groove for the cord to follow anymore). Can this be DIY repaired or bought as a small piece or do I have to eventually replace the whole reg?

    cheers

New reg me thinks. While u take the reg out, u might as well put a brand new one in coz they are so annoying to do! Dont u just love manual window winders

Keep in mind that manual ones do break as well.

Mickey I got 3 on ebay from the states for $80 a piece, I'd imagine you could get a similar price as well.

Lol I just don't have the money...I was thinking of pulling out the current one, sanding down a new groove with the same green piece, and sticking a metal washer to the end of it to make a lip for the groove so the cord ran along it again.

        What you reckon?

I replaced mine for round $150 installed, it was the day before the Nats and it looked like rain so at that point I just wanted it fixed. Mind you I think that sort of money is damn reasonable to watch someone else do it right. Thanks Matt

As a side, the old one had a snapped cable (which then jammed the thing up) so I thought I would pull it apart to see whats what. Turns out when it's freed up the motor works fine. Off the top of my head the wheel was worn causing the cable to come out, jam then snap. But who knows, it still might be better than yours. I'll take a photo of the bits I have left over and if they look better than your parts your welcome to come and pick them up and see what you can fix yourself, but at the end of the day I think your probably better off just replacing it.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

My left rear was not working from when I bought the car, since the panel shop they needed to have all window molds out so that they can work all the way to the end, ended up getting one from Matt and they fixed it now they all work

You can waste hours "fixing" the mechanisms only for it to break again.

Still if you have the time, have a go mate.
