I've replaced strut top mounts, and recently engine mounts. I've STILL got some sort of weird knocking sound, either when i engage a gear while i'm driving or when i take off. It doesn't always happen but it felt before like i was getting abnormal engine movement. I've noticed that the car still jerks a bit before the power is engaged when i go to change gears.
The only thing I can think of is a fudged driveshaft...anyone???

Knocking could be your driveshaft, the stretch bolts in the subframe can cause knock along with your control arm bushes ( rear ones on the front arms). Also check the big bolt that goes through the control arms , the one that face North/South. Had one today hanging off (NOT GOOD) . This was causing a clunk on take off, accelerate/decel. Steering geometry was seriously compromised. Tightened bolt and drives straight as die now. It has another typical VR6 suspension clunk ( still under investigation).
Cheers

--I did all four control arm bushes with Aydan a little while ago - I'll be sure to check the bolts for tightness. Is torque spec something around 60Nm or so?
--Stretch bolts on the subframe...which bolts are these exactly mate?
--Driveshafts is the last thing in the driveline I think I could check...I've checked my whole hub assembly and all the bolts and stuff there, and I've checked the suspension and the engine mounts. PITA!!! lol

Stretch bolts are the ones that go up the way through the control arms, you will probably find you will get an 1/8th of a turn on them now even after you have tightened them. Vr6 were common for clunks, strut mounts were bad, lowered ones were also bad for Sways hitting the driveshaft. Have you tried it with the sway up out of the way?????
cheers

I haven't paid much attention to the swaybar actually. By up out of the way do you mean with the car height raised? or with the sway unbolted and moved?

After the car has come back from a very unfortunate series of panelbeating-related events, she's back and fighting. Dan's coming around next friday for a full detail, and I'm ALMOST ready to start painting my wheels. I've fixed up knocks and clunks, ane I'm getting some new spark plugs soon. I'm going to have to do my sump and covker cover gaskets, and sump plug at some point, and might even think about a new sump cos mine is kinda scratched up bad now haha.. I swear I should call this thread ''mickey's maintenance thread''.
I'm putting this out to you guys cos I'm not sure what I want. With my headliner, I was thinking of leaving the headliner piece alone as red, and stripping the pillars and just painting them black to suit the bottom half of the original trim. What are your thoughts?

where was ur panelbeating done mickey? Good to hear u got her back. sump work sounds fun What sparkies did u get? I say go bright pink and bright orage interior
You could try photoshop ur interior? It might end up too black? or it will end up amazingly sick.
Haha, I haven't hit my sump for a while now, I think this might have been from a while ago. Slow leak from then would suggest low oil on the weekend..oh well.

Panelbeating was done at G & Y collision repairs. I've personally had a bad experience with them, so this is my opinion and not defamation: The workmanship was generally poor and ill-organised, and the panelbeater fed me excuses for 6 weeks (after a promised 2/3) as to why my car wasn't ready.
What exactly do you mean by sparkies? lol..
I'm no good at photoshop. Steve and Dom here have both done their interiors black, and with the red roof ONLY, I think mine will look good like that but I'm not sure whether I should just leave it as it is or not.
