Well there's been nothing happening over the past 26 hours in this section so I'm going to bump my thread in anticipation of lots of repairs and lots of droppage in only three days
I hope you realise that your helping me to that a few weeks later
Alright, I got bored. I'll give you guys a quick update of where we are now
So far, we've ripped the engine bay apart, installed the new clutch, installed/REPAIRED the new timing chain (old rails....eek...) and the box is back in. All we have left to finish off (hopefully all tomorrow) is bolting the starter motor back on, bolting driveshafts back together and ancillaries. We should get it done in time to finally put my new COILOVERS in the car too
Anyways. /yabbing on, here's some pics!
Some bolts just don't like to come out the traditional way...:
Here's the box out after lots of swearing(WINNER!):
uhhh...why don't my gears work?
Old timing chain:
Old vs New....One of three old rails that had actually SNAPPED (good thing i did this when i did....!!):
Timing chains replacement:
New chains:
I'm so glad we did this ourselves... (thankyou Mischa/Pedro/Jayjay) I'm really pleased with our progress - albeit a tiny bit slow - I've saved myself heaps of money and gained stacks of knowledge.

Haha yeah I think I'm going to have to make a "project clean car" for christmas lol. And don't worry, we have three jacks in similar positions..they might not be the greatest, but we're nearly done and haven't had any fatalities yet

If you leave those jacks with alot of weight on them for a long period of time they gradually split the seals and a nice puddle of oils forms on the ground around I learnt this the hard way!

lol we had jack stands holding the car up. plus 2 small trolley jacks and one phat trolley jack. the trolley jacks were just used to maneuver the gb and motor into position when bolting them back up
Nice work. Hope it all works when its back together.
Looks pretty good from here

Haha cheers Matt. I'm glad we had your blessings hahahahah. We checked the timing lots and the clutch etc was aligned with the right tools etc. Basically, the only thing that we could get wrong now is bolts
