  • Smooth Front Bumper

I've been toying with the idea of smoothing over my front bumper (not the black plastic!) for a little while now, and I think I should consider it. I'm considering deleting dummy fogs and indicators, and deleting the number plate recess, making it one straight line across the front. (I'm also thinking beemer fogs in the lower air ducts too but I'm not worrying about that yet)

Has anyone got any pics with it done (preferrably on white mk3- looking at you, Ray!) or good p-shops?

    Cheers guys

Orbital sander is your friend Ever considered painting the trim gloss-black hahahaha?

You make everything white it'll look just like an OBDII car, and less like a VR6 in my opinion. Now we wait for steve to post up a whole series of pictures of his white VR6 ...

I'll search through my pics later, but I can think of one white car with colour-coded bumper tops that has a bumper exactly to your description. Owned by one of the guys in clubbrokestatus.

someone correct me if im wrong, but i believe you wouldnt be legally allowed to do this UNLESS you had indicators somewhere on the front like for example if you changed to after market headlights like the MK4 look lights you can get online and such.

pretty sure you'd have to have some sort of front facing indicators. coppers are pretty tight with that sorta stuff from what ive seen with mates who have Jap cars and keep gettin canaries for stuff like that.

                  Probably a photoshop effort.

As for the smoothed look in general... I don't know if I'm a fan. Especially that first pic with the badgessless grill and totally smoothed look, it just looks a bit bare for me.... especially on a white car.

Mind you, while I do like the VW badge on the front of the car, some cars, especially with the boser bonnet look hot as in badge less form.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I reckon Mk4 style lights with the indicators in would be legal and keep the boys in blue happy.

                    Go crazy I reckon.

One of the best mods you can do to a Mk3 IMO.

Yeah I tend to agree. I have been thinking about the indicator issue, that's the only thing stopping me from doing it. I don't want different headlights, I was thinking about doing something like Ray did with his integrated indicators in stock headlights. But, I could also fit some cleaner looking indicators (like the long side-repeaters on some Mk3's) into the front which would still look clean as!

Looking through the images again, I don't think I like the colour-coded look of the upper bumper bit. I wanna keep my car bumpers stock, because the black breaks it up nicely, makes it look tuffer
