VR6 Gear Knob and Boot Change

so the VR6 gear knob is a bit ratty and i'd like to get it changed.

Going on ebay, i see so many different options but not sure what i should look out for.

After some searching, some say that the mk4 ones fit on the mk3 but some dont or they need a modified boot.

I just really want something simple and cost effective, no need to splurge for oem ones etc.

Any suggestions?

Back when I had my GL I changed the gear knob/boot to a mk4 spec. the know screwed on like a mk3 knob but I had to get a boot made up. I found both on ebay. ill see if I can find the links I used

i have just ordered a m4 knob and boot from ebay. it was about $12.

i dont believe you have to actually cut it.
