Well i've done 150km around Hobart (good amount on the motorway) and gotten 8.8L/100km.

I usually get really high readings when i first drive down the road like 40s-50s. The other day i changed my spark plugs and on the first drive after i got a reading of 96L/100km!!!!! NO JOKE!!!

pffft that only happens when you pull the key out and throw it at your then girlfriend...
On the upside she game me the key back before we hit the median strip and signs...

And that is why you shouldn't argue while driving

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

The sad part is that that price will also go up. For example, BP make "renewable diesel" which is chemically identical to normal diesel but it's made from Tallow plant. In very recent times tallow prices have risen from round $300/tonne to over $1,000... guess why?

Damn oil companies, their monopoly and price rigging wouldn't be accepted in any other industry. Greedy corporate pigs! Ooh that sounded a bit socialist hehe

Tallow plant? Do you mean a "Tallow plant" or a "Tallow manufacturing plant?" Isn't tallow beef fat?

Also you can quite readily make oil from coal as well, Sowf Efrika have been doing it for years, its very energy consuming, but I doubt its still more expensive than the current crude price. I remember doing high school chemistry in 2004 and my teacher saying how stupid it was with oil around $42 BBL. The petroleum industry has massive barriers to entry and hence why its virtually impossible to compete.

I get around 11-12 L per 100 in GL. Thats pretty much exclusively short trips and warming up the car for a minimum of 5 minutes each time I drive. Although It does drop almost immediately to an average of 8-9 when some open road emerges. I have though gotten it to around 20-40L per 100 when I did my advanced driving course at Oran park, where I did something like 8L of fuel in 21km, thats 38L/100. Now that was a fun day...

I remember when my injectors weren't cleaned...I went from Ryde to Drummoyne and by the time I hit the Gladesville bridge I could have 8.8 easily showing on my reading! I wonder how low it could have gone if like that on my way back from terrigal....
