easiest way is to use a chisel and a hammer. Tap a little slit in the side and then start tapping it lose. The Bolts are intentionally made like that so that once you tighten them they get to the correct torque setting the head shears of the bolt. Clever system just a pitty they used them on our cars.

There are 3 in the front knee bar if you ever have to remove the dashboard to do the heater core.

By the way the Dragon green is one of the most awesome colours available in the VR6. great buy

Mine bar must have been removed at some stage since is has standard screws in it.

you dont need to destroy anything to get it out.
Just pull the plastic trims off at the side and you will see where it bolts to the side and pull it out whilst still connected to the bracket.

Yeah i got rid of mine so i could fill it up with replacement panels while its at the painters...

I pulled mine out on Monday so I could carry a load of wheels and tyres. Took 10 mins of fiddling around. Undo the bolts holding the seatbelt bit under the top plastic trim, and the small plastic bolts on the inside of the strut towers. Just a tad fiddly getting it all out at once, but you'll get there eventually!

It's probably worth the effort of removing the two bolts in the picture and replacing them with standard screws/bolts if you plan on taking it in an out more than once.

Fit two BMX's in there tonight with front wheel off - bit fiddly, but made me relise that without the brace there's gonna be so much more room!

Hahaha parents are the same... whats so special about an 00' passat anyway

You should have a look at replacing the bushings and strut tops as well when you put the coils in, won't cost an awful lot either.

I need some new discs for the rear end, mine are currently on 7mm which is apparantly the minimum thickness (fronts are sweet @ 23mm). Anyone know how much this'll set me back for a new pair?
