  • Mk3 Exhaust wheres best??

My exhaust is a bit rattley and was wondering where is the best place to buy one in Adelaide.
I dont know if I need all of it?
But if I do, should I go for an extractor one, would that be cheaper than a standard factory one??

The rattling may just be a loose heat shield. My old GL did that all the time until I got it welded up.

Don't worry about factory vs after market, unless you get a decent exhaust out of a wreck it's pretty much going to be after market anyway. It's all good as long as it's done properly.

Legally you can replace, but not remove (at least in NSW). So you can remove the suit case muffler and replace with a much smaller lighter unit, but technically you can't remove it entirely.

It's easy enough to replace the cat back with a new high flow cat, resonator and muffler with a 2 1/2" pipe to gain a little better flow and a better note.

Having said all that, you need very little of the exhaust.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Agreed, If it's an annoying resonance at about 2000rpm its the heat shield. I didn't get mine welded, I just removed my back muffler completely.

If you are going to go down the route of replacing and upgrading the exhaust at all, can I sugest a place called Exhaust Technology on Goodwood Road. Very very good work there, well priced and Marky (the owner) is an absolute champ, he knows his ****
