  • Help I'm too tall!

Hello everyone. I have a 95 Golf cl 2 door. The problem is I'm 6'3" and the seats aren't height adjustable. I need to know if I can swap the backs onto height adjustable bases from a 4 door? I still need them to tilt forward so my kids can get in the back. Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

    P.S. I'm planning to do a vr6 swap asap!

The problem you're likely to face is the seats from a 4 door won't have the tilt mechanism. You could do some modifications but it might be easier to cut down the base on your existing seats. I know on my MK2 I could go wild with an angle grinder and cut out a few cm's then weld it back together.

I have thought about cutting them, but the problem with that is my partner drives the car sometimes and she's about 5'2". I might just try to pick a height adjustable seat up and try to fit my tilt back onto it. If not I might just cut it and have her use some pillows or phone books.

I have seen a thread on here were someone put the tilt mechanism on vr seats. So definitely possible, or you could only put in the drivers seat? The drivers seat is the only one with heigh adjustment anyway.

My brother and sister only get in on the curb side. Why not just have a height adjustable for driver's but have them go in and out on the curb side seat?
You'll have a slight inconvenience but it won't require any modding.

I was talking to my partner about it and I think that's the way to go. I bought the car from Golf Loon so I might go see if he has any laying around. Thanks for the help.

I'm 6'2 and don't have much of a problem, but it's that extra inch that counts hey

Don't have any suggestions on how, but height adjustable will drop low enough for you. I'm 6'6" and fit fine in a GL.
