Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

That's really quick postage for the coils! Got a link for them?

I think anything over a cm of clearance between the strut and the tyre is fine. I doubt the tyre would deform enough to scrape during city driving. I had around 6mm of clearance on my last car and it never rubbed.

                    updates updates!
after I decided I'll install the front coilovers in the next few days or possibly today I got around to lipping the front arches.

then after all that done I attempted to install my coilovers , what a fail that was!!
lowered it down and Ofcourse my trolley jack got stuck... luckily not on my sump or anything but I was able to jack it back up and pull it out.
                    lmfao look at this.

then after reading some more diys I guess I forget the strut Bearing or something.
so I put that in but I think I did them in different orders on either side.
one side I put bolted the top rubber mount to the coilover and one I just played the mount over it.
                    both sides don't sit flush,

and on the other side where I bolted the mount to the coilver it's not sturdy and it has slack.

I don't drive the car so it's not a problem just yet.
any help? why aren't the top hat mounts sitting flush?
                    here's some pics though

I don't know the solution to your problem but this has to be said... Damn that looks good low!

Have you sprayed your front badges as well?

nah I haven't sprayed them, I've only sprayed the front grill badge on the inside walls of it from the grey to a flat black to bring out the chrome front and make it stand out abit more , considering painting them black..

                          @anthony-t

                          Reminder?

Looks good dude. Did you get new strut top bushings or did you use the old ones? That'll be your problem

common to not sit flush, mine look exact same although id assume new bushings could solve it.
